13 Things To Expect & How To Live and Travel In Hostels & Backpackers

This weeks video all about hostels and backpackers. What it’s like living and staying in hostels for budget travel and long term accommodation – How to survive, expectations, advice, tips, experiences and things for backpackers, travellers, solo and group adventure seekers alike. My experiences and what I have learned during short and long stays in the world of dorms, strangers, small talk, free breakfast and bunk beds. There will eventually be a part 2 to this, as I thought of a thousand more useful thoughts while editing.

I also have an abundance of weird and wacky hostel stories to share in the future. The strangest things happen when you’re mingling and living with complete strangers, but also some of the most amazing things. This video could have easily been 30 minutes long and I did struggle to cut down on the chit chat. Including a story about the time my mixed dorm turned into a 9 men bachelors party and me room. Completely harmless, but a rather unexpected and mildly funny awakening.

Chinese Horoscope Predictions For 2017 Year Of The Rooster

What does the Chinese New Year mean for you? Predictions for the year ahead, as we enter 2017- year of the rooster.

A bonus video this weekend. I recently purchased this book, Your Chinese Horoscope 2017 by Neil Somerville. Basically, woke up on the eve of Chinese New Year  wanting to make an astrology based video. Unfortunately most of the recaps are brief, apart from the Rooster’s of course – as we are entering the year of the rooster and I am one myself.

Hopefully this will be my year *fingers crossed and holding breathe…

Luckily, based on the video below, it would seem none of us are in for too much horror. Disclaimer: just opinion not fact! This year is said to be an interesting year offering scope, awareness and much possibility. A year where we need to seize the day and jump at all opportunities that come our way.

Well that is enough spoilers – here is me talking about our future year ahead:

*Disclaimer -not an expert, just reading and predicting for fun!

13 Things To Do When You Are Sick

Today’s video is a list of things to do when you are sick, you’re feeling ill or have been attacked by the cold and flu season. These tips and pieces of advice come from numerous and continuous coughs and fever – I also may be guilty of following all these steps.

What to do when you’re sick? Here are a few ideas, advice, tricks and tips to combat the boredom when being sick and how to deal with common sicknesses. Apologies for my feverish thoughts!

I do need to add to the list. As my doctors advised – take paracetamol every four hours. Even one month later when you are still sick – It’s still viral! Okay, I need to stop unleashing my anger towards this super useful prescription along with the classic line “just keep doing what you’re doing and wait it out….”

13 Things People Say About British People

This week is my reaction and thoughts on things people say and think about the British population. Common conceptions and misconceptions regarding some, but not all in the population. Reaction from a New Zealander / Kiwi who has been living here for over two years now. Including a few reenactments and an attempt at story telling at the end. I will let you be the judge of that one.

How does the world view the British? What do people say? Are they right?

Some opinions mentioned in the video below: always polite, obsessed with the Royal family (+I formerly apologise for the analogy used in this video), 1600 tea time and a love for warm beer and the art of queuing. Watch the video to see my views on these opinions plus 8 more…

Soundtrack To My Life Tag Music

I saw this tag on Lucy Moon’s channel. The soundtrack to my life music- questions answered with a few of my favorite songs that make up my past and maybe future life moments.
This should really be labelled as a challenge video. I had so many answers for these questions and the video is already much longer than expected.
And here are the questions:
Song you listen to when you’re happy?
Song you listen to when you’re sad?
What song will you have at your wedding?
What song do you dance around the house to?
Song you play on your headphones when out and about?
Song you listen to when you’re angry?
Song you’d have at your funeral?
Song that makes you lose your shit at a party?
The last song you listened to?
The song you most want to see live?
Your karaoke song?
What song do you work out/exercise to?
Song with the most memories attached?
Song that makes you cry?
Song you hate the most?
Your favorite song of all time?

This week’s video is a bit of a mix. Part one is a regular travel themed video where I complete AmandaMuse’s wanderlust tag. Here are the questions if you would like to partake:

1. Your most treasured passport stamp?
2. Can you recite your passport from memory if asked?
3. Preferred method of travel; planes, trains or automobiles?
4. Top 3 travel items?
5. Hostel or hotel?
6. Are you a repeat visitor or do you explore new places?
7. Do you read up on your destination (culture, history, safety) or do you wing it?
8. Favorite travel website?
9. Where would you recommend a friend to visit? Name city & why.
10. You’re leaving tomorrow, money is no object, where are you going?

And part two is an update on this YouTube channel adventure I have begun. In 2017 I am going to push myself upload two videos a week. These will be Travel Tuesdays and Favorite/random Fridays! I am excited to start this schedule and push myself to complete it. It shall be quite a challenge considering the ever changing shifts I work, but I am determined to make it all work. This is because I am honestly finding a ridiculous amount of joy and stress relief with this new found hobby. When I say stress relief – I almost mean a stress exchange or a different type of stress that is some how more rewarding and enjoyable.

Here is the video and let me know what you think:

My Top 13 Favorite Horror, Thriller & Scary Movies

As the title suggests, this week’s video is a list of 13 of my favourite scary movies. A mixture of the truly terrifying and  humorous black comedies. If you are looking for new horror or thriller movies to watch, here are some ideas for this genre.

I feel like the films in this genre are either a hit or a ridiculous miss. I have watched my fair share of awful horror movies. It might also be worth adding that I am not a fan of the gruesome for the sake of gruesome horror movies. I would rather a solid story line or a hilarious one.

Movies included in the list below include: Triangle, Anabelle, Birds, Housebound, Se7en and much more… 8 more to be exact!

A brief history of why I like this genre: I was always the one who would stay up with my dad to watch the scary movies and as a family we would watch Midsomer Murders and Criminal Minds religiously. But, the real interest in horror movies was formed in high school. It began with the odd scary movie during sleepovers, but we quickly realised we actually liked this type of movie and proceeded to only watch the scary stuff.

I haven’t come as far as being someone who can watch scary movies while home alone. As much as I love the burst of adrenaline and thrilling story lines, I do get scared, jump and scream. Scary movies scare me, but I do enjoy them.

I do also have videos and posts regarding favorite TV shows and favorite Christmas movies currently on my channel Thirteen Things – Elza, with a list of more genres to come.
